4th International Diabetic Foot Conference – For the Latest in Diabetic Care

Diabetic is a disease that has claimed the quality of life of so many people around the globe. It is a condition where the regulation of blood sugar is impaired resulting in a malfunctioning of so many related organs. One common side effect of Diabetics is the loss of limbs. Every year hundreds of people have their limbs amputated due to Diabetics going rampant and since this disease has become more common than ever there is no salvaging such a condition; the only solution is awareness. Awareness can help prevent diabetics altogether and in the event you get the disease it helps control the condition preventing it from conquering one’s lifestyle altogether.

Four years ago Dubai set up the International Diabetic Foot Conference whose sole aim was to address diabetic related limb amputation and the solutions that can be found with this regard. The three conferences were a huge success and this year Dubai is organizing this event once again to follow up on the many discussions that have been taking place in the past. The event is scheduled to take place from the 14th to the 15th of November and some of the most well versed professionals in this area are expected to share their expertise to prevent limb amputations. These experts are not only from the Middle East but from all over the globe. The approach taken in this conference is evidence based and several hands on workshops are conducted to fulfill the needs of all the participants.

The quality of the International Diabetic Foot Conference is top notch so much so that this conference has been identified as a platform for the medical world to join together to make breakthrough decisions in prevention and care of limb damage due to diabetics.

2013 Coutts Polo at the Palace – In good company always

Polo was always known as the sport of kings ever since it was introduced to the world through the courts of the Mogul emperors of India. Coutts Polo at the Palace, which is an annual two-day sports spectacular, and it is one of the gulf region’s most prestigious events, as well as a fashionable occasion. It attracts high fliers who are keen on and associated with the sport, in addition to skilled equestrians, haute monde fashionistas, and local and international socialites.

Ever since it debuted in 2009, Coutts Polo at the Palace takes place every November in the gardens of the Emirates Palace (a sumptuous hotel), Abu Dhabi. The Coutts team from the host city, the Maserati Team from Milan, the Faberge Team from London, and Team Buenos Aires compete for the prestigious Coutts Polo Cup during two days of intense competition on one of the most spectacular and best purpose-built polo fields in the world. In order to ensure an exciting sporting event, the game here is played according to a different set of rules geared to keep the players moving, the audience entertained, and to keep them coming to the event.

The game played on the grounds of the Palace has been made simpler to appeal to a wider audience as well as to make it fast-paced and unforgettable. It starts with the exciting Palace Dash, where the opposing sides try to get at the ball in a mad dash across the field, setting the pace for the rest of the game. A smaller field than those used for regular games, it allows the audience to be closer to the action and three players per side instead of the usual four force it to be a more action-filled game needing skill, speed, and innovative tactics. This new way of playing an ancient game has not only heightened its interest but also proved that it can be played successfully in the centre of busy cities.

The off-field activities are as exciting as those on the field. Shaded lavish lounge-like areas provide refreshments and relaxing spaces in VIP tents limited to 250 people and five private chalets serving only up to 50 people. The emphasis is on exclusivity, with only a thousand spectators admitted per game and tickets are in high demand for the 2013 November event.

It will be a treat indeed for the many who come to Al Ain to celebrate the national holiday. As one of the world’s most prestigious aerobatic events, the Al Ain Aerobatic Show has so far drawn 24 aerobatics teams and pilots from across several European countries, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. A range of aircraft from the supersonic NF5 aircraft to Hawker Hunter Jets, bi planes to Hawk Mk65 smoke capable jets, a Hawker Hunter built in 1956 and L 39 C Albatross jets have taken to the skies to showcase heart stopping maneuvers.

Look forward to steep climbs, barrel rolls, loops, inverted flying, wing walking to music, hovering, tail slides, dizzy spins, smoke drawing, flying in close formation with only one meter between jets doing speeds of 200 to 520 knots. You will also get to enjoy artful aerial ballets in vintage motor gliders set to music and sky diving, which are some of the acts audiences have loved. One of the most popular and stunning acts involved a comedy show with Otto the Helicopter. A Hughes TH – 55 Osageone helicopter entertained the crowd by blowing bubbles, playing with a yo-yo, racing around barrels, towing banners, shooting smoke and engaging in other mischievous acts, all the while engaged in a spot of spirited banter with the talented master of ceremonies.

The 2013 edition of this acclaimed event, which is to be held at the Al Ain International Airport, is being organized as a tribute to Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural heritage and as such, a series of themed aerial displays, on-the-ground attractions and performances are being planned.

All action will not happen only in the air. Going by the on-ground entertainment featured at previous shows, fun activities have included a 6,300 sq meter go-kart circuit, inflatable rides, bungee jumping, trampolines, street theater, a simulation zone, stilt walkers and more. The 2013 attractions are expected to be even more exciting. In fact, it is being billed as the ‘ultimate family day out’ in order to draw crowds to this one-in-a-lifetime event. Organisers also hope to nurture future aviation professionals by having a series of educational programs on the industry.
