Flowers are one of nature’s prettiest creations. What is astonishing about them is that each one is so unique in its appearance, shade and scent. From subtle colour differences to minute details that make them exquisitely beautiful, each flower seems a miracle. Celebrating this annually is the Hong Kong Flower Show.

Held every year in March it is organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong. Looked forward to by both local and foreign citizens, it is the most important event in the horticulture enthusiast’s calendar. While participants are primarily those who have some knowledge or have a keen interest in horticulture, the event is not just restricted to them. In fact most visitors are just people who appreciate beauty.

This year’s flower show is scheduled to take place between the 15 to 24 March from 9am to 9pm at the Victoria Park located in Causeway Bay. With Dendrobium being the theme flower and ‘kaleidoscope of spring’ being the theme, one can expect unbelievable displays of not only potted plants but also floral arrangements and landscapes. Commercial stalls located at the exhibition will provide a one stop place for all your horticulture needs. Admission fee is $14 with a special $7 admission for children, students and senior citizens. For groups over 30 the admission has been reduced to half the normal rate so as to encourage large number of visitors.

The event also brings in international organizations, thereby giving visitor’s an opportunity to witness flower spectacles from the world over. It also provides a platform for exchange of knowledge on horticulture. Apart from the exhibition itself other activities like photo and drawing competitions, informative seminars, workshops on floral art and plant maintenance as well as musical and cultural performances will also be held, making this an event anybody and everybody can enjoy.
